Definition of "Vessel"

The courts have defined the term “vessel” to include offshore oil drilling rigs and most barges, even those engaged in dredging.  The term vessel includes boats, ships, barges, tugs, cruise ships, fishing boats, charter boats, casino boats, dredges, mobile offshore drilling platforms and units, helicopters and many others.  See illustrations on pages 177-184.
